Chief Mine Planner
Pete Millan
BSc Mining Engineering (1978) and Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (1984) (University of the Witwatersrand)
Pete is a retired mining engineer, having spent most of his 38 year career evaluating, designing and planning opencast deposits for De Beers, Anglo Platinum and Tharisa Minerals. He is well versed in evaluation of ore deposits and is expert at all the software tools at his disposal to evaluate, design and schedule an open pit mine. Pete is probably the foremost open cast mine design professional in the country and Frontline is privileged to have his services. Also a competent clay target shot, he has represented South Africa at 3 international shoots.

Head of Survey
Madikwe Mokoma
Nat Dipl Survey (2014) (TUT)
Madikwe Mokoma has over 12 years of experience in surveying across the mining, infrastructure, energy, and construction sectors. He holds a National Diploma in Surveying from the Tshwane University of Technology, is a SAGC-registered Survey Technician, and is a licensed Drone Pilot (RPL). Madikwe specialises in mine surveying, UAV mapping, volumetric analysis, geospatial data management, and operational planning support. His expertise in combining traditional surveying methods with advanced drone and GIS technologies enables the delivery of accurate, reliable data that supports safe and efficient project execution.

Senior Geologist
Dirk De Lange
Adv Cert in Geology (1990) (Wits Technikon)
Dirk is an accomplished, knowledgeable, and versatile geologist with extensive experience in underground and surface mining geology, exploration and structural geology. He obtained an Advanced Certificate in Geology from Anglo American Corporation, South Africa in 1990, at the Wits technikon. Over the years he has developed specialised expertise in sedimentary gold deposits, Witwatersrand Basin geology, including Ventersdorp Contact Reef and Black Reef systems. Recently he has been exposed to the Polokwane Green Stone Belt Gold deposits and has been found to be quite proficient in the understanding of the orebody.
His career includes extensive experience with major mining organisations and consulting environments, including roles as Geologist, Senior Geologist, Section Geologist, Shaft Geologist, Mine Manager (MHSA 3.1 Appointment), Consulting Geologist, Engineering Geologist in Dubai, UAE and Production Geologist. He has lectured Mining Geology at major mining companies. Dirk is a friendly fellow who gets along with all people he encounters

Geologist
Liam Roberts
BSc HONS (2025) (UP)
Liam is a recent graduate with a BSc Honours in Geology from the University of Pretoria. He has gained recent experience in the exploration and testing for heavy mineral sands in the paleo Orange river, where he helped set up, run and manage a pilot plant for HMS and REE recovery. He has join the Frontline team to gain more experience in other commodities and broaden his knowledge in all things geology.

Geology Intern
Koketso Ledwaba
AdvDip Geology (2023) (TUT)
Koketso obtained his National Diploma in geology in 2020 and then after gaining some practical experience, his Advanced Diploma in geology in 2023, both from the Tshwane University of Technology. Passionate about geological exploration, grade control, and mineral resource development, with practical experience in supporting mining operations through geological mapping, sampling, and data interpretation. Committed to continuous growth, applying technical knowledge and field experience to contribute effectively to safe, efficient and profitable mining practices.

Operations Coordinator
Tiago De Sousa
Tiago coordinates all field operations and logistics. A natural adventure seeker and outdoor lover, he is well-suited to the challenges of mining and exploration activities.
